Oil firms told to upgrade personnel
Angola, Luanda - The Angolan deputy minister of Environment, Syanga Abílio, said Friday in Luanda oil companies operating in the country should more and more upgrade their technical staff who handle equipment, in order for them to be skilled enough to deal with eventual leaks. The official was speaking to journalists on the fringes of the conference on “Oil sector as factor of environmental damages,” as part of the International Fair on Environmental Technologies taking place in the Angolan capital. The deputy minister added that the oil companies should also invest more in the substitution of their equipment considered obsolete and that can cause oil leaks and other accidents. While admitting the oil firms have been complying with leak fighting norms, said they should invest more in personnel training.
