Official backs cross-border links as priority

Luanda, Luanda - Angolan minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás considered the cross-border links as one of priorities, without causing any damage to countries engaged internally in the implementation of national networks in all aspects of cooperation that ensure the economic and social cohesion goals of the community.Speaking at the opening ceremony of the meeting gathering ministers responsible for the creation of the infrastructure of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), held Thursday, the official stressed the country’s commitment to do so."The goal that moves us will only be reasonably achieved by deepening the regional integration that allows us to join these markets, while united, active social and economic community," said Augusto da Silva Tomás.In his view, SADC has basic conditions for progress, will, planning, manpower available, resources and a programme, but it is also necessary to invest enough in other fields, such as technological modernisation, training, funding, technology , among others.He informed that the key words of this plan include human capital, resources, infrastructure, development and competitiveness.The minister underlined  that one of the things that naturally raises concern is related to the financing of investment, which is indeed a key issue in this whole process.  In this meting, taking place in Luanda, the ministers responsible for infrastructures of SADC, will also assess the progress in the implementation of the actions and projects underway in the region at the level of the programme of  infrastructures.The sector of infrastructures of the Southern Africa Development Community comprises Ministries of Transports, Telecommunications and Technology of Information, Urbanisation and Construction and Hotel and Tourism.
