New Election body chairperson starts functions

Luanda, Luanda - The new chairperson of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) André da Silva Neto, is ready to continue the process of preparing the general election set for next August 31. André da Silva Neto was sworn in by the first vice speaker of the National Assembly, João Lourenço, during the 10th Plenary Session. After swearing commitment and dedication in carrying out of his duties and respect the Constitution, the CNE boss said in press statements, to be fully aware of the difficult responsibility that he will take. Asked about his work programme, he said that the first contact will take process with the document about his current state, then set of guidelines which, however, should not escape those planned by the organ during mandate of his predecessor, Suzana Inglês. At the age of 64, André da Silva Neto is a magistrate for 26 years, and is advising judge of the Supreme Court. He exercised the functions in civil and administrative chamber since 1996 and has been presiding judge of the Provincial Court of Uige.
