Nair Almeida lead Angola in win over host
Angola, London – The Angolan national senior women team of handball beat Great Britain by 31-23 on Friday, in a fourth round match of the London Olympic Games, in which Angola’s Nair Almeida was one of the most valuable players with eight goals. Nair Almeida stood out from among her partners by commanding the attacks of the African champions in the first Angola’s win since the handball tournament started. She scored six goals and nine attempts, including three offensive passes. With Friday’s victory, Angola completed two points in the fifth position, above great Britain with zero. The two teams have been eliminated from the handball tournament of the London Olympic Games. Group A includes Russia, Montenegro, Brazil, Croatia, Angola and Great-Britain. The four best qualify for the following phase of the competition.
