Law on domestic violence deters crime
Angola, Luanda – The recently approved law on domestic violence by National Assembly, whose main target are child and woman dissuade this offence which is often ignored, trivialize and even confused with the African tradition for the profit of offenders, said the first vice Speaker of National Assembly. The first-vice Speaker, João Lourenço, said this while presiding over the opening ceremony of workshop on the topic “Women participation at decision making organs: How to preserve the achieved results”. According to him, by regarding the law as a crime, apart from a greater investment needed in education and civic attitude within population, doubtlessly it will retrieve values such as the effective gender equality, respect and disparity at home. João Lourenço also said that women's ascension at cultural, economic and political sphere is the result of their engagement. The meeting gathers MPs, women holding posts in the government and civil society.
