Kuando Kubango singer wins 4th National Song Festival

Angola, Luanda – The Angolan eight-year old singer from the eastern Kuando Kubango province, Sílvia Matongue won the 4th National Children Song Festival/2011 with the track entitled “Nossa Terra” at Luanda’s Atlântico cinema. The event, which is taking place under the motto “The song for the future”, is an annual and national festival. The festival was promoted by the ruling party children wing (OPA) with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture. The winner was awarded with laptop, hi-fi, television set, mobile phone, guitar and a school bag. At least 18 contenders from the country’s 18 provinces competed in the festival and it aims to discover new talented singers. The 4th edition counted on the participations of Mini-Yaka dance group, Estrelinhas Wavilupa Kwimbila group, singers Mister-Robson, Walter Ananás and Nicol Ananás, As Gingas do Maculusso group and the winner of last edition, Suzana Carlos. The event was attended by children, Family and Women Promotion Minister, Genoveva Lino, Welfare and Social Reintegration Minister, João Baptista Kussumua, Vice-governor of Luanda, Juvelina Imperial and the Angolan writer Maria Eugénia Neto.
