Journalists' rights under debate in Paris
Angola, Luanda - Representatives of the regional organisations of the journalists rights protection and UN organs and programmes, as well as guests are discussing, from Tuesday, in Paris, France, issues related to safety of the social communication workers.Chaired by Raghu Menon, chairperson of the International Programme for UNESCO communication development, the meeting analyses specifically "the journalists’ safety in the world", "strengths and weaknesses of the international legal tools available’’ and "the UN challenges, its organs – proposed for an action plan". Angola attends the meeting with a delegation led by the mass media deputy minister, Manuel Miguel de Carvalho, also integrated by the national director of information of the same sector, José Luís de Matos, and other journalists. The meeting is set to end on Wednesday by drafting a plan to combat journalists’ insecurity and their aggressors’ impunity.
