Head of State promulgates law on MP's status

Angola, Luanda  - The President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, using the powers granted to him by the Constitution, promulgated two laws, namely that which approves the Code of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum and the Organic Law approving the MP's Status. According to a press release from the Civil Office of the President of the Republic, disclosed to ANGOP on Friday in Luanda, the first contains a single legislation regulating parliamentary conduct and discipline and applies to all MPs with the National Assembly. It also sets the principles and basic standards of ethics and decorum that should regulate the conduct of MPs during their mandates, as well as the procedure and the disciplinary measures applicable in case of default. The second law regulates the legal regime of MPs, establishes their rights, benefits and general duties and lays down the general regime of parliamentary discipline. It is applicable to every MP in office and, as applicable, to the MP with a suspended term.
