General hospital performs 600 blood transfusions per month

Angola, Benguela - Six hundred blood transfusions are performed every month by the General Hospital of central Benguela province to treat needy patients.This was said Saturday by the head of Haemotherapy ward of the hospital, Adelino Domingos.The official was speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the ceremony of blood donation organised by the members of the district Committee of the ruling MPLA party’s youth wing (JMPLA) in the light of the celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the MPLA held Saturday.According to the official, half of this number will go to patients without family.Adelino Domings spoke of the need for an association of blood donors in order to stop the Shortage reported in the local haemotherapy ward.In addition to 10 voluntary donors the institution also counts on the campaigns carried out by the ruling party and some religious associations.
