Foreign minister optimistic about re-launching of relations with Italy

Italy, Rome - The Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Georges Chikoti, considered positive his three-day visit to Italy and said conditions have been created for the re-launching of relations between the two countries."I am sure we have created the conditions to re-launch the good relations between our two countries," noted the Angolan top diplomat while assessing his visit to Italy, ending Wednesday.During his stay in the European country, the Angolan minister met with his Italian counterpart, Giulio Terzi, with whom he signed a reciprocal visa exemption for diplomatic and service passports and executive programme of cultural, scientific and technological cooperation.Chikoti also met with local minister of Interior, Annamaria Cancellieri, minister of International Cooperation, Andrea Riccardi and the under secretary of economic development, Claudio de Vincenti.Georges Chikoti's agenda also includes meeting with chairperson of Foreign Affairs Commission of MPs Chamber, Stefano Stefani, and run a lecture on topic“ the external Policy of Angola at International Organisations”.The minister hold talks with the Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), during which he invited the Director-General of the organization, the Brazilian José Graziano da Silva, to visit Angola.At FAO, the minister inaugurated a radio and television centre called "Angola", built with financial support of the Angolan government.He also met with the African ambassadors to Italy, having analysed the prevailing situation in Guinea Bissau.Angola and Italy maintain friendship relations for long years.The Angolan delegation integrates head of European Department of Foreign Affairs ministry, Teodolinda Rodrigues Coelho, official of  “desk” Italy, Lourdes Alves de Castro, technician of department of legal, treaties and litigation affairs, among other officials of the ministry.
