Family situation in Huambo stable - Official
Angola, Huambo – The acting director of the Ministry of Family and Women Promotion (MINFAMU) in central Huambo province, Wilni Fernanda Inácio Ekuikui, said Monday here the situation of families in the region is stable, despite some constraints. Speaking to Angop on the occasion of the International Day of Family, May 15, the official deplored that many families are losing their real value as a result of the acculturation phenomenon. According to Wilni Ekuikui, the state of the families in Huambo might be better, would couples opt for dialogue, affection, love, harmony, tolerance and other values that once characterised the family. She said the situation of the family in Huambo is considered stable, despite some constraints that still face them. The problems, she mentioned, are mainly due to the permanent absence of parents in the homes and lack of maturity to handle some conflicts that result in domestic violence, separation of the couples and abandonment of the children. Wilni Ekuikui said she believes that one of the ways to make families retrieve their typical features was the respect for the norms of cohabitation, civic and moral values. The May 15 was proclaimed International Day of Family in 1993 by the United Nations General Assembly.
