Experts prepare dossier for Maiombe Forest ministerial meeting
Angola, Luanda - Experts of the Republics of Angola, Gabon, DR Congo and Congo Brazzaville are gathered since Thursday in Luanda to prepare the documents to be ratified at the first Ministerial meeting of the Tripartite Committee of the Maiombe Initiative held on Friday. The experts, under the eyes of the representatives of the United Nations agencies system on environmental and natural conservation, are reviewing the documents relating to the project Maiombe for the next five years, its cross-border program and conservation of biodiversity inside the natural ecosystem of this area.The three proposals for submission to donors and financial institutions, the regional strategy for the diversification of funding sources, the Joint Declaration on the challenges of the Summit "Rio +20", to be held in June in Brazil, are other documents that are being reviewed at this meeting of the regional technical committee.The experts are also preparing the documents connected to the preservation of biodiversity and ecosystem in Maiombe Forest, the institutionalization of planned and defined areas and the definition of the boundaries of reservation taking into account the maritime border and the inclusion of Gabon in the initiative.
