Creation of special economic zone in Calueque

Cunene, Ondjiva - The government of the southern Cunene province announced the creation of Special Economic Zone (ZEE) in border locality of Calueque, Ombadja district. The decision to choose the referred locality emerged from the 1st Ordinary Session held Tuesday by the provincial government of Cunene, chaired by the local governor. Speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony, the local governor, António Didalelwa, spoke of potential of Calueque locality in boosting agro-food and livestock business. According to him, the existence of  hydro-graphic basin of Cunene river which possess the hydroelectric dam of Calueque enables such a conditions. The official also mentioned factors as the proximity of the border with the neighbouring Namibia, the conditions regarding energy and water supply as well as the access that will allow the creation of land, economic and administrative infrastructures. This will promote intensive production and job creation. During the Consultative Council that was intended to review and approve various documents, the members analysed aspects on drafting of budget proposal for 2013 and Preparation of agro- industrial fair of Cunene edition 2012.
