CPLP annual trade estimated at Usd 13 billion

Angola, Luanda - The annual trade among the states of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) is estimated at about Usd 13 billion, while the global trade with the rest of the world is over Usd 590 billion.The information was released by Angolan Trade minister, Idalina Valente, who was speaking at the opening of the 1st meeting of CPLP trade ministers.According to the official, trade among the Community countries is still little expressive and the Luanda meeting will serve to boost exchange.The minister said she believed improvements in maritime transport and port logistics will help overcome the constraints in trade within the CPLP, at the same time the standardisation of the system of quality will contribute to existing multilateral trade.She said that as the eighth strongest economy of the world, Brazil may play a role in the CPLP.
