Armed Forces chief assesses conditions for safe election
Ondjiva, Ondjiva - The chief of General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda Friday paid a 24-hour visit to the southern Cunene province to assess the readiness of the troops, ahead of elections, set for 31 August, 2012. Speaking to journalists after his arrival in Ondjiva, the FAA high ranking officer said that the visit to Cunene aims to learn of the reality and the readiness of the troops, as well as the issues related to the accommodation in the barracks. Under Friday agenda, the chief of Staff visited military battalion based in Mukubuayne, outskirts of Ondjiva city, where he assessed the ongoing works and the current condition of the forces. Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda also met behind closed door with the local organs of defence and security.
