Angola's development demands everyone's contribution
Portugal, Lisbon – The press attaché of the Angolan Embassy in Portugal, Estêvão Alberto, on Saturday asserted, in Matosinhos region (district of Oporto), that the country’s new development reality also demands the contribution of every Angolan. Speaking on behalf of the Angolan ambassador to Portugal, José Marcos Barrica, during the first inter-regional meeting of Angolan communities residing in the Northern and Central regions of Portugal, Estêvão Alberto, reiterated that “undeniable changes” in the organisational and political aspects, as well as in terms of attitude, following “a cycle of structuring reforms in a country that aims at reaching new heights regionally and internationally”. “These achievements and challenges are the new Angolan reality, a country whose development will only be achieved with the contribution of all sons of Angola”, Estêvão Alberto stated. He added that Angola is currently witnessing a process of changes in which the consolidation of peace, reconciliation, national reconstruction and the construction of democracy are key elements, which resulted from the 2002 Peace Accord, which marked, for all Angolans, the starting point for the future. In the country’s current development scenario, he considered as a “patriotic objective” the implementation of the executive programme and the participation of every citizen in the process of reconciliation and national reconstruction, “in search of converging bases for a better future of the country that is being built for all its children”. More than 1,200 people attended the gathering, which aimed at bringing together the Angolan community residing in the consular jurisdiction of Oporto, as well as listening to their worries and contributing to the analysis of the social and economic insertion of Angolans residing in the Northern and Central regions of Portugal.
