Angola hosts dinner for SADC guests in Addis Ababa

Angola, Addis Ababa - Angola hosted a work dinner on Friday for the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries and guests attending the 20th Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Executive Council taking place in Addis Ababa, Angop learned.The dinner coincided with the celebrations of the 63rd birthday of the SADC-backed candidate for the Africa Union Commission (AUC), South African Nkozasana Dlamini Zuma. Witnessed by South African president, Jacob Zuma, ex-husband of Nkozasana Dlamini the ceremony took place in an Addis Ababa hotel. Addressing the ceremony, the Foreign minister, Georges Chicoti, underlined that Nkozasana Zuma, who has served her country in various ministerial posts, is backed by all SADC member countries in the bid for the African Union chair. He added that the South African Home Affairs minister has the SADC support for the AUC chair because the African Union failed to take trustable decisions in favour of the interests of the continent over the last four years. Nkozasana Zuma is competing with the current AUC chairman, Jean Ping, of Gabon.The ceremony received addresses from president Jacob Zuma and the Tanzanian minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Bernard Membe.
