Access to economic resources decisive for better living
Angola, Luanda – The Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, Thursday in Luanda, highlighted the importance of people’s access to economic resources as a decisive factor for the uplifting of families living standards. Addressing the ceremony of launch of the guidebook on family competences, Genoveva Lino stressed the importance of families to access the economic resources, in view of their responsibility in creating living standard, both from the health point of view and training. She considered as crucial the empowerment of the families through their access to micro-credit to back small income generating initiatives and fight poverty. The minister also mentioned the competences of municipalities as another relevant component in addressing the issue of poverty fight, saying they enable the approximation of the various services with quality, quantity and wide territorial coverage. Genoveva Lino informed that the guidebook carries clear contents and illustrations about topics concerning pregnancy, pre-natal care, birth and newborn care, birth registration, breastfeeding, vaccines and others. The minister stated that only through education and awareness raising, coupled with the child potential in the family and in the society can the values of the Angolan society be retrieved. Called “The happiness recipe”, the launch of the guidebook had the support of Unicef, churches and other social partners.
