About 20.000 Angolans to return home in coming months

Mbanza Kongo – About 20.000 Angolan citizens living as refugees in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are to return home in the coming months, in the framework of the voluntary repatriation process, which kicked off last Friday.
The information was given to the press by the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),Stefano Severe, who also added that out of the 43.000 Angolan refugees staying in various localities of the DRC, at least 20.000 have manifested their interest to return to Angola.
He revealed that the UNHCR has pledged to help in the creation of conditions so that the Angolan refugees residing Kinshasa, Katanga and Bas Congo can return home without constraints.
Stefano Severe also commended the efforts being made by the governments of Angola and the DRC in this process, which has already benefited 252 citizens.
