About 200 explosives destroyed in Ombadja

Ondjiva, Ondjiva – About 200 explosives engines of diverse types were destroyed last Monday in Peu-Peu locality, Ombadja Municipality, in the southern Cunene Province, by the National Demining Institute (INAD). According to the head of the brigade that did the demining work, Paulo Taukondjele, the material that was destroyed was collected in the first fortnight of the current month in the former shooting field of Peu-Peu. Some of the destroyed equipment are anti-personnel mines, 135 mortars, 24 grenades, various detonators and ammunitions, among other materials. According to the official, the various materials were found by citizens that informed the authorities about the finding.  Meanwhile, Paulo Taukondjele revealed that INAD has a wide programme of demining in specific areas, which the institution has been executing, with a view to facilitating the circulation of people and goods.
