Tanzanian president in Luanda

Angola, Luanda – The president of the United Republic of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, arrived Thursday evening in Luanda, to attend the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) taking place from May 31 to June 1 in the Angolan capital. President Jakaya Kikwete was welcomed at Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport by Angolan minister of Energy, João Baptista Borges.

Transport infrastructures to facilitate Angola's regional integration

Angola, Luanda – The articulation among the air, maritime and rail and road sub-sectors will facilitate Angola’s integration in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) market.This was said Thursday in Luanda by Angolan minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás, on the fringes of a session of SADC ministers, in the country on the occasion of the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the region that starting on June 1 in Luanda.

"Scilalla" comedy opens cycle of Italian movie

Angola, Luanda - "Scilalla" is the title of a full-length feature debuting the cycle of Italian contemporary movies that will be screened in the Pepetela Auditorium of the Portuguese Cultural Centre, in Luanda, from July 4-15 this year.Directed by Francesco Bruni/2011, the movie is about the story of Lucas, a 15-year old naughty fatherless Roman seeking for a mentor and Bruno, a childless teacher who quit teaching to seek refuge in the apathy of extra lessons.

Defence vice minister ends Namíbia visit

Windhoek, Windhoek – The Angolan vice minister of Defence, adm. Gaspar Santos Rufino, ended Thursday his three-day visit to the neighbouring Republic of Namibia, Angop learned. In Namibia, Gaspar Rufino worked mainly with the local deputy Foreign minister, Peya Mushilenga, with whom he discussed the construction of two memorials to honour the martyrs of Cassinga and Chetekela, in Angola’s southern Huila province.

Transport minister gives vote of confidence to TAAG

Luanda,  Luanda - The minister of Transport, Augusto da Silva Tomás, Wednesday, in Luanda, praised the Board of Directors of TAAG, for one more step taken toward improving the quality of services of the Angolan flag carrier. Augusto Tomás was speaking during the delivery ceremony of the first cards of regular passenger frequent called "Umbi Umbi Club", to customers who have accumulated more than 60,000 miles.

Petro and 1º de Agosto play for Angola Cup

Luanda, Luanda – Long time rivals first division football teams of Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto will be playing on July 25 for the 8th final of the Angola Cup, according to a draw held Thursday in Luanda. This is after the two played on May 20 for the 12th round of the national first division football championship (Girabola2012) at Luanda’s “11 de Novembro” Stadium. 

SADC ministers briefed on Extraordinary Summit

Luanda, Luanda - The chairperson of the Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Ana Dias Lourenço, Thursday, in Luanda  informed other members of the regional organization, on the content of the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government, taking place Friday in the Angolan capital.

Singer Sónia António to release CD in June

Luanda,  Luanda - The Angolan singer Sonia Antonio will release on Saturday June 2, at Independence Park and Sunday in Viana, in Luanda, her third album entitled “Sonia 15 anos”.According to the musician, who was speaking to ANGOP, in this work that celebrates her 15 year of career at the request of several youth, gathers the songs that marked the childhood, in a single disc. 

Angola and Namibia joined by historical ties

Luanda ,   Luanda -  Angola and Namibia are linked by historical ties, so they are a brother country, said Thursday the vice-president of the ruling SWAPO party in Namibia, Hage Geingob. The Namibian politician was speaking to Angop, after his arrival in Luanda to attend the Summit of the heads of State and Government of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC). The official said that both countries have much in common, "hence the need to increasingly strengthen cooperation existing between the two parties.
