Japanese embassy funds social projects in Benguela and Moxico

Projects, Luanda - The Japanese ambassador to Angola, Ryozo Myoi and officials of NGOs signed this Wednesday in Luanda three protocols for funding community social projects in the provinces of Benguela and Moxico.

Bie governor hands over social infrastructures in Buanga

Bié province, Andulo - The governor of the central Bié province, Boavida Neto, handed over on Tuesday in Buanga locality a health centre, a school and the water abstraction, treatment and supply system to benefit the local population.The referred infrastructures were built in the ambit of the programme of rural development and eradication of hunger and poverty, being implemented by the Angolan government.

Official for continued staff training to expand maritime platform

Seminar, Luanda - The Vice-minister of Oil, Aníbal da Silva, Wednesday appealed for continued training of national staff in the fields of geotectonics, sedimentary geology, environmental and geophysics analysis to ensure the delineation of legal maritime platform in Angola.Aníbal da Silva said so while addressing the opening act of training seminar for technicians of interministerial commission for Delimitation and Demarcation Maritime Spaces of Angola (CIDDEMA).

Prison for juvenile delinquents opens soon

Luanda, Luanda – A prison for juvenile delinquents will be opened in coming months in Wuaku-Kungo, central Kwanza Sul province, the Interior minister, Sebastiano Martins, announced Wednesday in Luanda. The minister was speaking at the opening of a meeting of the organs of the Attorney’s Office with those of the Interior Ministry going with the theme "Educating the citizen is preventing crime to pacify the society." 

SADC ministers continue jetting in Luanda

SADC, Luanda - The Foreign Affairs Ministers of South Africa, Maite Emily Mashabane and Zimbabwe Mumbengegwi Simarashe arrived on Wednesday afternoon in Luanda, where they will attend the meeting of Council of Minister of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), set for 1-2 March.                

Course of voluntary repatriation discussed in Pretoria

Pretoria, Pretoria – The Angolan Social Welfare minister, João Baptista Kussumua, is since Wednesday in Pretoria (South Africa) attending a regional meeting on the strategy for the situation of Angolan refugees in neighbouring countries and Botswana. At the meeting, Angola is attending at the invitation of the UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, Erika Feller, and participants will analyse matters concerning Angolans in situation of refugee and outline a global strategy. 

"Elite Model Look Angola" starts in March

Luanda,  Luanda – The third edition of the fashion contest “Elite Model Look Angola2012” will start on 6 March, with the casting of the first young ladies to participate in the northern Cabinda province. This was announced by "Semba Comunicaçao" in its press release sent this Wednesday to Angop. According to the press note, the contest will go up to 27 April, when it will elect the winning candidate. 

Regulations clarify Parliament's scrutinising role

Angola, Luanda – The National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) Wednesday in Luanda passed the house’s new set of regulations that improves its scrutiny of Government’s activity. Proposed by the ruling MPLA party bench, the regulations were approved with 166 votes in favour, none against and six abstentions. It was the first point on the agenda for the Parliament’s 6th ordinary plenary session that started Wednesday morning.

Designer Nadir Tati happy with acknowledgement of society

Satisfaction , Luanda - The Angolan fashion designer, Nadir Tati, expressed Wednesday her satisfaction at the recognition of the society for winning the fashion award for the second time.Speaking to Angop, under her distinction in the category of “Best fashion designer” of the year in Luanda fashion, Nadir Tati also said it is important to be able to pass her knowledge and to contribute to society.

First division soccer championship kicks off Saturday
