Port of Cabinda handles over 20,000 containers

Cabinda, Cabinda – The Cabinda Port handled from January to November 2011, At least 20,051 containers, a monthly average of 1,822 containers, said on Wednesday the chairman of the board of the company, Nazareth Neto.Speaking at the traditional ceremony of year-end greetings, Nazareth Neto said that over the same period of 2010 there is an increase of 29 percent, although there was a decrease of ships on the port of Cabinda.

Millennium Bank creates 800 jobs

Angola, Ndalatando– Angola Millennium Bank has employed 800 workers all over thecountry, with the opening of a new branch in Ndalatando city, Northern Kwanza-Norte province, says its administrator, João Matias. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, João Matias said the creation of new jobs is a fruit of the bank expansion all over the country and a support to the Government initiative to fight unemployment. 

Over 7,000 citizens detained for attempting cross border

PGFA, Luanda – The National Border Police (PGFA) arrested in 2011, at least 7,183 citizens of different nationalities for attempted violation of national border, said in Luanda the chief commissioner, Jorge Antunes “JoJo”.Speaking to the press the commander of the border police said that they have arrested 5,875 citizens from DRC, 350 Namibians, 78 Zambians, 63 Congolese, 29 Ivorians, as well the seizure of several items for tax evasion and other means used for smuggling.

Cazenga, Kilalamba Kiaxi carnival groups attend workshop

Kilamba Kiaxi ,  Cazenga - Members of carnival groups of Kilamba Kiaxi and Cazenga district, in Luanda, discussed Thursday the improvement of dynamic for 2012 edition.  Promoted by the provincial association of Luanda Carnival, the workshop which gathered members from the group of class B and children, centred on the improvement of some organisational aspects and know better the requirements for a good articipation in the event. 

President of Republic orders day off on January 2nd

Angola,  Luanda – The Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, in his capacity of head of the Executive announces that all work activities will be suspended in the public and private sector on January 2, 2012, throughout the national territory. According to an official source, this holiday does not apply to employees who work during shifts hours.  

National team ends training in Ethiopia

Angola,  Luanda - Angolan runners Francisco Caluvi and Felismina Cavela, who represent the country at the 56th edition of St. Sylvester, are returning Friday in Luanda, where they will compete on 31 December, after a three week-stay in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia .

The chairman of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Manuel da Cunha, announced Wednesday, in Luanda, that his administration will use the holding of the African championship (CAN2012), in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, to discuss and assess the case which led to the suspension of referee Hélder Martins from FIFA ranks.

The national senior males football team last Wednesday in Luanda started the second stage of their preparation programme for the 2012 African Nations Cup (CAN), to be played in Gabon and Equatorial-Guinea, however, it was a closed-door session with no one speaking to the press.

Year-end Race Organisers to Introduce Anti-Doping Tests

This year's edition of the Saint Sylvester Marathon will include anti-doping tests, said Wednesday in Luanda the director of the event, Adriano Nunes, at a press conference held in the premises of the Angolan Athletics Federation.
