President of Republic Orders Day Off On January Second

The Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, in his capacity of head of the Executive announces that all work activities will be suspended in the public and private sector on January 2, 2012, throughout the national territory.

2011 was a good year - Vice President

Luanda, Luanda - The Vice President of the Republic, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, on Thursday in Luanda said that 2011 was a good year for Angola in political, economic and social domains. The official said so at the end of the year greetings ceremony of the Presidency of the Republic, led by José Eduardo dos Santos, and his wife Ana Paula dos Santos. 

National football team continue avoiding press

Luanda, Luanda - Angola's national football team carried out on Thursday a closed-door training session, in Luanda’s 11 de Novembro Stadium, ahead of their participation in the African Nations Cup (CAN), set for January 07 and February 12 of the year 2012, in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The second phase of the training period started on Wednesday on the same venue, being that this Friday the team will do another training session. 

2012 to record one more historic landmark

Angola, Luanda - The year 2012 will record one more historic landmark with the holding of the general elections for the third time, considered the Vice President of the Republic, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos santos. The Vice President said so when speaking at the yearend greetings ceremony of the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, and the First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos. 

Attorney General urges tighter action against crime

Angola,  Luanda – The Angolan attorney general, João Maria de Sousa, Thursday in Luanda, called on magistrates for tighter action and major involvement in the juridical education of the population, prevention of crime and control of prisons.João Maria de Sousa who was addressing the yearend compliments ceremony, said so in view of the high and rising rate of crime.

TS performance bellow 2011 expectations

Angola, Luanda - The chief justice of the Supreme Court (TS), Cristiano André, acknowledged Thursday in Luanda that the functioning of his institutions was below expectations during the year 2011. The chief justice, who was speaking at yearend greeting ceremony said that despite lacking tender for other magistrates, the context would be rather different should there was a global effort by the justice officers and officials, considered important for the most visible performance.

Belas district residents called to participate in management

Angola,  Luanda – The deputy governor of Luanda province for Administrative Organisation and Modernisation, Graciano Domingos, considered fundamental the participation of Belas district residents in the solution of local problems.The official was speaking Thursday at the ceremony of presentation of Belas district administrator, Joana António Quintas.

Authorities to stop yearend parties without licence

Angola,   Kuito - The provincial director of Culture in the Bie, Antonio dos Santos Buta, reaffirmed on Thursday in the city of Kuito, that his institution in partnership with the National Police, will stop the holding of parties with profit intentions that is not licensed during the yearend.The source said that until now only one event promoter asked for the license.

Ethiopians top Luanda's yearend race list

Angola, Luanda - Ethiopian athletes are leading the honour standing of the yearend race dubbed "São Silvestre", with 19 titles in male category and nine (women). The numbers tend to increase taking into account the participation of the Ethiopians Haile Gebrselassie and Dire Tune, the winners of the 2011 edition. The competition is scheduled for December 31, Saturday, at 05:00 pm in some Luanda streets. 

Singer Morais Camambala to release CD

Angola, Huambo - The Angolan musician Morais Camambala will release his max-single “Together”, to the public in late February, he said in Huambo. The album appears in the market four years after his debut with the CD “reconciliação”. The singer said in an interview to ANGOP, the single will feature with five tracks.
