Conference on HIV/Aids in Lobito corridor opened

Benguela, Benguela – The First Conference on HIV/Aids in Lobito corridor, in Benguela Province, was opened Wednesday in a session presided over by vice governor of this province, Eliseu Epalanga. The conference held under the topic “Strengthening the response, thus making HIV/Aids weak” constitutes a space for interchange of experiences and for the discussion and analysis on challenges, opportunities to improve the response to the disease in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico. 

Yuri da Cunha prepares new CD in Portugal

Luanda, Luanda  – The Angolan singer, Yuri da Cunha, announced on Wednesday in Luanda that he will travel to Lisbon city in Portugal in order to conclude his next CD to be released in 2012.   Speaking to Angop on Wednesday, the artist said that the CD, which is not entitled yet, was recorded in Angola and US.  Yuri da Cunha, aged 31, was born in Sumbe city in the central province.

EU, Oxfam invest over Euro 400.000 in water projects in Calandula

Angola, Kuito - EU and the British NGO Oxfam will invest over Euro 400.000, aimed at improving the water supply in Chinguar district in the central Bié province. This was announced to Angop on Tuesday by the provincial secretary of the Angola Red Cross (CVA), Angelo Sassongo. In addition, Agelo Sassongo said that this amount will be invested in the procurement of instruments to make bore wells.   

LR Foundation promotes children writers contest

Luanda, Luanda – The first edition of the project “Writer of the future” will be organised from September 2011, in Luanda, promoted by the LR Arte e Cultura Foundation, aimed at stimulating reading and writing in children. In an interview to ANGOP on Wednesday, the institution’s director for marketing and media, Cássia Ayres, stressed that it has been confirmed the participation of 40 children that go to library of the foundation regularly. 

Vice governor inaugurates social projects in Calandula

Angola, Malanje - The vice governor of the northern Malanje province for political and social matters, Alice Van-Dúnem, is inaugurating on Wednesday seven social projects, under the festivities of the 82nd anniversary of Calandula district, to be marked on 2 September.  According to a press note, which reached Angop, four schools and three residences will be unveiled.  

Fire Department to set up equipment at Muxima Sanctuary

Luanda, Luanda - The Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB) will set up in Muxima Sanctuary, northern Bengo Province, various equipment due to the pilgrimage in the spot, set for September 03-04, 2011. SPCB's spokesman, Faustino Sebastião, said the corporation will send to the site helicopters, ambulances, fire extinction car, as well as boats for rescue service. The official also said that awareness campaigns will take place to prevent accidents.

Makanga and Love promise cohesion in team

Angola, Luanda – The midfielder of the Angolan national team, André Makanga, and  striker Love Cabungula on Tuesday in Luanda promised cohesion in the defensive and offensive sector to beat Uganda on Sunday, in a match that is part of the penultimate stage of qualification for CAN 2012 in Gabon and  Equatorial Guinea.

Casa70 to promote old music show in September 2

Angola, Luanda – The Angolan shows promoter of Casa 70 will promote on 2 September a recreational activity dubbed “Farra do Antigamente”, aimed at recalling the old music successes.Angop learnt on Wednesday by a source from Casa70.According to the source, the event aims to gather friends and regular visitors of the venue to flavour the national food and tracks that marked Angolan music hall.

Bié Governor Highlights Arrival of Train in Huambo

The governor of Bié Province, Alvaro de Boavida Neto, on Tuesday here said that the resumption of the train service of the Benguela Railway Company (CFB), which goes up to Huambo Province, will boost the social and economic development of the region and the neighbouring provinces, ANGOP has learnt.

Striker Flávio Amado Pledges Goals Against Uganda

The striker of Angola's football team, Flávio Amado, has said the squad will face many difficulties on Sunday's game against Uganda, but added that he is prepared to score goals and help achieve the three points, ANGOP has learnt.
