Environment Ministry's broad consultative council in Moxico

Angola, Luena - The Ministry of Environment will held from next Monday its broad consultative council in the city of Luena, eastern Moxico province, to analyse the 2012/2017 national strategic plan of environmental management, ANGOP learnt.

Singer Jacinto Tchipa to hold grand concert in Luanda

Angola, Luanda – Angolan singer Jacinto Tchipa is preparing a grand concert for this year in the country's capital, Luanda, ANGOP has learnt.The singer made this announcement during a homage granted to him on Saturday by the "Africa Cultura" organisation during the 2011 edition of the Kizomba music contest dubbed "Feskizomba", due to his contribution to the development of the Angolan music.

Public influx marks second day of international jazz festival

Angola, Luanda - Over 5,000 people witnessed on Saturday and Sunday in Luanda, the performance by local Maravilha band, Spyro Gira group and by the Macy Gray, both from the USA, during the second day of the Luanda International Jazz Festival, ANGOP has learnt.The music show started at 06pm on Saturday and extended until 03:30am on Sunday, with performances of Angolan drummers, the Spyro Gira group, Angolan Kizua Gourgel, Mayra Andrade and the Moreira project.The festival was marked by various music genres such as semba, blues, jazz and soul music.

Julieta Paulo wins Kizomba music contest

Angola, Luanda – Singer Julieta Paulo on Saturday in Luanda won the Kizomba music competition dubbed  “Feskizomba 2011”, by singing the track entitled “Perdão (pardon)”.  Speaking to ANGOP at the end of the event, Julieta Paulo said that victory is the result of a very hard and sacrificed work, a fact that enabled her to win the contest that counted on the participation of talented opponents.

Under-16 basketball team captures bronze in African cup

Angola, Luanda - Angolan under-16 ladies basketball team won the bronze medal at the African championship following a 59-55 victory over Tunisia, ANGOP learnt.The national team beat Mozambique by 62-57 and Algeria 70-40, but lost 56-89 against Egypt, 53-55 against Mali, and was once more beaten in this tournament by their Egyptian counterparts by 41-72.This is the second time Angola competes in the African championships, this time held in Mali.In 2008, Angola was placed fourth in the competition. 

Angolan media delegation off to Argentina

Luanda ,  Luanda – A delegation of the Angolan Media Ministry, led by the incumbent minister Carolina Cerqueira, this Sunday left for Argentina for a work visit meant to strengthen bilateral cooperation, ANGOP has learnt.Before leaving Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, the minister said that the week-long visit aims at responding to an invitation from that country to share experience, mainly in terms of organising radio, television and press agencies.

Explanation on law against domestic violence starts Monday

Angola, Luanda - The minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, on Sunday here announced the start of the campaign of presenting and explaining the law against domestic violence, countrywide. Speaking to ANGOP, to mark the African Women's Day, July 31, the minister said that after the approval of the law, the following step was to work for its regulation.

Angolan, Argentinean news agencies sign cooperation accord

Luanda, Luanda - The Angolan state-run news agency (ANGOP) and its counterpart Argentina will this week sign bilateral cooperation agreements for the sharing of information, on Sunday here said the Angolan media minister, Carolina Cerqueira.The minister said so at Luanda's "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, shortly before departing for Argentina ahead of a delegation from her ministry that will pay a work visit to that South American country with view to sign bilateral cooperation accords in this sector.
