Winners of 2010 design competition to be announced

Cape Town - The City of Cape Town will on Thursday announce the winners of its 2010 Green Goal Mouille Point Student Landscape Design Competition.

As a one of the host cities of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the city will announce the winners of the competition on Thursday at the Cape Town Hotel.

This is the first ever student competition in Cape Town, linked to the Green Goal programme of the forthcoming world cup.

Workers urged to report unsafe working conditions

KwaZulu-Natal - KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Executive Manager Edward Khambula has urged workers to be more vigilant and report any unsafe working conditions to their nearest labour centre.

He said workers had the right to raise their health and safety concerns with labour inspectors, adding that labour inspectors relied on the co-operation between employees and employers in the fight to reduce the high rate of workplace accidents and fatalities.

SA-EU strengthen co-operation in research, education

Pretoria - A meeting between South Africa and the European Union (EU) on Tuesday agreed to strengthen co-operation in the fields of research and education networking.

The 7th Joint Science and Technology Cooperation Committee (JSTCC) meeting was held in Pretoria.

According to the two parties, the agreement would be carried out through the interconnection between the South African National Research and Education Network (SANReN) and the European GEANT2 network.
