Nedbank to fund R200m affordable housing project - The affordable housing division of Nedbank Corporate Property Finance would fund a new R200-million development to be built by the Cosmopolitan group, in Mapleton, near Vosloorus, in Gauteng.
The banking group on Monday reported that the affordable housing development would entail the construction of 522 residential stands, 270 of which would be completed as part of phase one by the end of February. [Engineering News]

SA's renewable sector could create over 145 000 jobs by 2020
GCN report 'Low Carbon Jobs in an Interconnected World' - A recent report from international research organisation the Global Climate Network (GCN) has indicated that some 36 400 new direct jobs, and 109 100 indirect jobs could be created in the renewable energy sector in South Africa by 2020.
Furthermore, as many as 700 000 people could be employed in the biofuels industry in South Africa, the report entitled ‘Low carbon jobs in an interconnected world' stated. [Engineering News]
Grinaker-LTA completes new prison in Kimberley
Grinaker-LTA completes new prison in Kimberley - Engineering and construction firm Grinaker-LTA on Wednesday reported that the construction of the new medium security correctional centre, in Kimberley, has been completed and handed over to the Department of Public Works.
The facility will provide accommodation for 3 000 adult male offenders, and was one of four new prisons that were first announced in 2002. [Engineering News]
