Public Works confirms SA’s ability to deliver 2010 projects

Cape Town - Ahead of its budget debate Wednesday, the Department of Public Works confirmed South Africa had the skills and capacity to deliver infrastructure required for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

While the country did have the requisite skills, work would be done to train prospective entrants into the construction industry to increase the actual number of companies involved in the sector, Public Works Minister Thoko Didiza told reporters in Parliament.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning of the University of Technology at Eindhoven (The Netherlands) we are organizing a large international, interdisciplinary conference and student design competition on the subject of TECTONICS: MAKING MEANING.

The event will take place in the Faculty Building on the 10th, 11th & 12th December, 2007. Plenary speakers will include Mels Crouwel, Kenneth Frampton, Mark Goulthorpe*, Toyo Ito*, Winy Maas*, Jesse Reiser, Ken Yeang and Frits Scheubling (* subject to confirmation).
